Julie Darby, MPAS, PA-C, graduated from the University of Texas, Southwestern
Medical Center at Dallas in August 2001. She received a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant
Studies and has worked with Dr. Barrows since October of 2001.
Julie completed her Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS)
with a focus in Dermatology at the University of Nebraska in April 2004, after receiving a
scholarship to do so from the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA). This award
was granted, in part, based on her activities promoting the SDPA.
Julie's clinical exposures during schooling include dermatology, internal
medicine, family practice, OB/GYN, surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, psychiatry, and emergency
medicine. Many of these experiences were through the Parkland Hospital System in Dallas, Texas.
Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, Julie worked in dermatology nursing
for 2 1/2 years, and with the American Red Cross for 2 years. She also holds a degree in business
administration.
Julie currently works full-time in the McKinney location, but has been a provider
in the Allen & Greenville locations for Dr. Barrows in the past. She has served as a preceptor
for UTSW physician assistant students, and as a speaker for the SDPA.
